So, I’m in my bedroom, the sun is shining right on the screen I’m using to see what I’m typing here, the manager of my local football team left a few hours ago for Wigan, he’s not too popular right now, apparently he once pledged his life to the Swans?

I want to rant about something that drives me absolutely wild - Welsh language fanatics… …in the paper tonight~~~~~ (South Wales Evening Post) it’s saying about a guy called Ffred Ffransis (gross mis-spelling of Francis, typical Welsh nationalist behaviour, he was actually born Frederick Sefton Francis) who came out of a 4-day sentence in a Bridgend jail yesterday after failing to pay a 100 pound fine which he was ordered with back in January 2001 after some protest that went wrong where those proud fascists~ vandalised some shop windows with various Welsh-languaged threats. They seem to think that they’re above the law!~~~~~

The reason I’m ranting about this guy is because of the movement he’s involved with; Cymdeithas yr Iaith (the Welsh Language Society, although they’ll never refer to themselves with their English name, yn amlwg!*). They have a Cymru** 2020 scheme whereby they want to secure that the Welsh language is showing no signs of decline, which it, at this rate, won’t be anyway.

The C.Y.I. is a movement for the welfare of the Welsh language [citation needed].

Seriously, I mean, the organization is a joke, they seem to think vandalism~~~~~~ and violence~ is the way to get power to the Welsh language, and what is more exceedingly overwhelming about their behaviour is that they advertize themselves as a non-violent organization! I would even go so far as to label them nationalist terrorists, with blatant opposition~ and discrimination~ towards the English language rather than support for the Welsh language~.

They once hijacked~~~~~~ a Carmarthenshire radio station claiming that there was not enough Welsh language content on the station - but why should there be when the majority of the county are English-speakers? And there are in fact, more Polish-speakers than Welsh-speakers in some areas of the county, such as Llanelli. Making the radio station more Welsh based would simply lose listeners, which is ultimately, the station’s goal - the C.Y.I. is willing to rape businesses in the name of advocating the Welsh language.

The main reason why this movement enrages me so much, is the fact that they are using violence and vandalism, therefore costing society money due to the destruction that they’ve caused - when there are far better ways to advocate iaith y nefoedd***.

The bigotry, hatred and blatant nationalism borderline fascism displayed by this group is utterly disgusting and I feel something needs to be done to either eradicate this groups from society, or to reduce their actions to non-violent actions, as, by the looks of their website, they should be.

This group causes unnecessary inconvencience to the public in the way that they demolish roadsigns simply because they do not bear the Welsh name of the places they are directing to. I am completely disgusted, as a fluent Welsh-speaker, that I share a language with people who feel that the sort of behaviour of Cymdeithas yr Iaith is acceptable and just.

It’s time for these nationalists to grow up, and realise that there are methods of improving the status of the Welsh language in more non-violent ways, such as peaceful negotiations with our Assembly~~~ in Cardiff~~~~ (which is, after all, there for us) and Westminster.

With the correct type of mature and peaceful behaviour it is possible for the Welsh language to survive, but with the actions of Cymdeithas yr Iaith, it is, unfortunately, not a surprise that the language is not recognized as much as it should be.
